The chapter where she hides in that tiny bathroom with seven other women for 91 days left me breathless. I've read a lot of memoirs but few capture forgiveness after such horror without feeling preachy.
I finished this memoir in two sittings, which I almost never do. The way she writes about forgiveness after losing so much in the genocide is what stuck with me.
I picked this up knowing almost nothing about the Rwandan genocide and ended up reading the last hundred pages through tears. What stayed with me was how she describes hiding in that tiny bathroom for 91 days, praying instead of giving in to hate. It's a memoir that earns its hope.
